El Al Israel Airlines will increase its weekly flights between Tel Aviv and London Heathrow Airport from 11 to 15 starting in October. The additional four flights will be made possible by leasing slots from Virgin Atlantic, according to a statement posted on El Al's LinkedIn page. This expansion marks the highest number of weekly rotations the airline has ever operated on this route.

The carrier said that all flights between Tel Aviv and Heathrow will use widebody aircraft. While El Al did not specify which models will operate these flights, data from Cirium indicates that the current service uses Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. According to aeroLOPA, El Al's Dreamliners are configured in two layouts, both with three classes. The configuration used for Heathrow-bound flights accommodates 32 business class, 35 premium economy, and 204 economy seats for a total of 271 passengers.

With the new schedule, El Al will operate up to three daily services between Tel Aviv and Heathrow during some days of the week. In addition to its operations at Heathrow, El Al also flies five times a week to London Luton Airport, bringing its total presence across London's major airports to 20 round trips per week.

"By increasing our flight frequency to Europe's most central airport, we will provide our passengers with seamless connectivity to numerous onward destinations with the world's leading airlines," El Al stated.

Demand for travel between Israel and the United Kingdom has fluctuated in recent years due to ongoing conflict in the region. Virgin Atlantic previously served Tel Aviv twice daily but announced earlier this year it would not resume those flights after suspending them when hostilities began. British Airways also paused its Heathrow-Tel Aviv service after May but is scheduled to restart operations in October.

El Al noted that increased demand is coming from business travelers as well as Jewish and Israeli communities and leisure passengers traveling between the two countries. The airline said its expanded schedule is designed to "meet the growing demand from business travelers, the Jewish and Israeli communities, and leisure passengers traveling between the two countries."

Currently, four airlines offer direct scheduled flights between Tel Aviv and London: El Al (Heathrow and Luton), Arkia (Stansted), Israir (Luton), and Wizz Air (Luton).
