United Airlines is currently operating its largest aircraft, the Boeing 777-300ER, across a network of domestic and international routes. The airline has 22 of these wide-body jets in service, making them a key part of United’s long-haul fleet.

In August, United will operate 932 flights using the 777-300ER to destinations in Europe, Asia, Guam, and the Middle East. The aircraft features four classes: United Polaris business class, Premium Plus premium economy, Economy Plus with extra legroom, and standard Economy. Amenities include inflight WiFi, USB ports, power outlets, and seatback entertainment systems.

The Boeing 777-300ER seats up to 350 passengers. Its configuration is more focused on premium seating compared to United’s other large jets like the Boeing 777-200 and 777-200ER. There are no immediate plans to retire the 77W from United’s fleet; however, other widebody models such as older Boeing 777s are expected to be replaced by newer aircraft including the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 in coming years.

The first of United’s current batch of Boeing 777-300ERs was delivered at the end of December 2016. Since then, deliveries continued through March 2020. The airline operates a total of 96 aircraft from the Boeing 777 family when including all variants.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) sees the highest number of scheduled flights operated by United’s largest jet this month. Destinations served from SFO include Manila, Hong Kong (with two daily departures), Taipei, Shanghai, Frankfurt, and Tokyo. Two domestic routes—Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Honolulu Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL)—also feature daily service on this aircraft type from San Francisco.

At Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), United uses its largest plane for several international routes as well as frequent flights to San Francisco. From EWR there are also direct services to Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO), Frankfurt International Airport (FRA), and Dubai International Airport (DXB). On its Dubai route specifically, United competes with Emirates’ one-stop service via Athens.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) hosts two daily departures using the Boeing 777-300ER: one each to Brussels International Airport (BRU) and Frankfurt International Airport (FRA). These flights provide nearly ten thousand weekly seats between Washington D.C., Belgium and Germany.

Guam Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport is another notable destination for this aircraft model within United’s network due to historical ties following its merger with Continental Airlines. The carrier maintains a single daily flight between Honolulu and Guam using the Boeing 777-300ER.

United Airlines was founded in 1931 and operates hubs at major U.S airports including Chicago O’Hare International Airport; Denver; Houston George Bush Intercontinental; Los Angeles; Newark Liberty; San Francisco; Washington Dulles; and Guam.
