Frontier Airlines has announced a status match offer, allowing members of select airline loyalty programs to obtain Elite Gold status through December 31, 2026. Travelers who are enrolled in Southwest Airlines' Rapid Rewards, JetBlue Airways' TrueBlue, Spirit Airlines' Free Spirit, or Alaska Airlines' Mileage Plan can access this promotion for a $69 fee. The application must be submitted by September 9, 2025, at frontier.getstatus.com.

The Elite Gold status provides benefits such as priority customer care, a free carry-on bag, priority boarding, free preferred seat selection, complimentary upgrades to premium seating at check-in, and access to UpFront Plus seating up to four hours before departure. UpFront Plus guarantees an empty middle seat in the first two rows. Frontier plans to introduce first class seating later in 2025.

"This is one of the most valuable offers we’ve ever extended to frequent flyers. We’re inviting members of many different airline loyalty programs to experience The New Frontier - where they can travel affordably without sacrificing comfort or premium perks," said Jeff Werkheiser, senior director of brand and customer engagement at Frontier Airlines.

Traditionally, legacy carriers like United Airlines and American Airlines have used status matches as a strategy to attract new customers. Low-cost airlines have generally avoided such offers because their business models depend on ancillary fees for services like baggage and seat selection. However, more low-cost carriers are now developing loyalty programs with tiered statuses or subscription features.

To qualify for the offer, travelers must already be members of Frontier Miles and have joined one of the eligible competing programs before August 19, 2025. Those who participated in a Southwest Rapid Rewards status match earlier in the year are not eligible for this promotion.

The terms specify that all fees may change without notice but will be displayed before payment is made. Once upgraded, the fee is nonrefundable; if a refund is processed for any reason, Gold status and its benefits are revoked immediately. Processing typically takes between 24 and 48 hours after application.

Applicants must use the same email address associated with their Frontier Miles account when claiming this offer. Members who previously completed a status match may participate again if they meet current criteria. Benefits do not apply retroactively to services already purchased—such as seat selection or baggage—and no refunds will be issued for paid services if covered by new benefits.

US low-cost carriers have increasingly adopted frequent flier programs that resemble those offered by full-service airlines but remain simpler in structure. Most allow customers to earn miles through flights and credit card partnerships but lack extensive partner networks or membership in major airline alliances such as oneworld or Star Alliance.
