FedEx has announced the launch of two new AI-powered customs clearance tools, "Customs AI" and an "HTS Code Search Function," for the Asia-Pacific region. The company aims to simplify the process of preparing customs documents for international shipments, helping both businesses and individuals handle export and import procedures more accurately.

Errors in customs documentation, such as incorrect item values or descriptions, continue to cause significant delays in trade. To address this issue, FedEx is integrating these tools into its FedEx Ship Manager platform on fedex.com, offering a user-friendly solution for customers.

Saril Chari, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Customer Experience for FedEx Asia Pacific, said: "フェデックスは、お客様に柔軟性、効率性、貿易に関する専門知識を提供することを使命としています。先進的なデジタルインサイトと直感的なツールを活用することで、ビジネスが変化へ俊敏に対応し、業務を効率化し、より良い意思決定を下せるよう支援します。今回のイノベーションは、貿易を容易にするだけでなく、急速に変化する市場においてお客様のビジネス成長を力強く後押しします。"

The HTS Code Search Function is designed as an industry-first solution that streamlines the process of identifying accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes required for shipments to the United States. Customers enter a product description, and the system automatically suggests the most appropriate HTS code along with a confidence score.

Customs AI is currently available in Australia, Guam, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the Philippines. This generative AI-powered chatbot analyzes customer input in real time to generate suitable item descriptions and corresponding HS codes (Harmonized System codes). The generated information can be added directly to shipping documents with one click.

Each suggested HS code includes a link to the official U.S. HTS tariff table so users can verify details and ensure accuracy. The system will be updated regularly to adapt to changes in trade regulations and help customers stay compliant while efficiently managing their shipments.

These integrated tools aim to resolve major issues related to customs paperwork and offer several benefits:

- Faster customs clearance by dynamically adjusting questions based on shipment content.

- Improved accuracy in estimating tariffs and taxes due to proper classification of goods.

- Reduced risk of shipment delays by ensuring correct descriptions and codes from the start.

- Lower costs by minimizing document errors that could lead to additional fees or penalties.

FedEx also provides webinars covering practical knowledge about changing trade regulations and best practices for international shipping compliance. Additional digital solutions like FedEx Import Tools are available on their website so customers can navigate evolving trade environments confidently.
