Israel has agreed to purchase two additional Boeing KC-46 Pegasus aerial refueling tankers, according to a report from The Jerusalem Post. The $500 million procurement will be financed through US military aid, highlighting the ongoing security partnership between Washington and Jerusalem.
The new agreement expands Israel’s existing fleet of four KC-46 aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026. The KC-46, based on the Boeing 767 airframe, offers extended range refueling capabilities as well as cargo transport and medical evacuation functions.
Aerial refueling is an important element of Israel’s defense strategy due to the country’s geographic size and operational requirements in the region. The KC-46 supports a variety of aircraft types, including F-35 stealth fighters already operated by Israel. This compatibility allows for sustained missions beyond Israeli airspace.
