SWISS has announced a new first class product called the First Grand Suite, which will be introduced on its Airbus widebody aircraft starting in early 2026. The airline, known for offering first class cabins on all of its widebody jets, says the new suite aims to provide greater privacy and flexibility for premium passengers.

The First Grand Suite features walls measuring 1.8 meters high, designed to offer an unprecedented level of seclusion. According to SWISS, the suite "combines two First Class suites into a single spacious and self-contained space that can serve as a bedroom, an office, or a meeting room." Heike Birlenbach, Chief Commercial Officer at SWISS, said:

"We’re further expanding our First Class service product with an option that is specifically aimed at those of our top premium customers who are seeking even more privacy and even more scope to design their personal space on board. Our Grand Suite should give our guests all the feeling of having their own ‘loft aloft’ – a space that they can use as they wish, to relax, to work, or just to enjoy the experience."

The suite is positioned in the center of the cabin between two single window suites and is intended for couples and families traveling together. SWISS stated: "this extensive space enables its occupants to spend their flight free and undisturbed within their own exclusive zone" on the aircraft.

The rollout will begin with newly delivered Airbus A350-900s and refurbished A330-300s in early 2026. Boeing 777-300ERs will receive the new product at a later date. The older A340-300s will not be retrofitted with this feature.

Currently, SWISS operates 30 widebody aircraft—14 Airbus A330-300s (average age 14.9 years), four Airbus A340-300s (average age 21.8 years), and 12 Boeing 777-300ERs (average age 8.3 years). Ten new Airbus A350-900s are on order and will replace the aging A340 fleet.

According to aviation analytics company Cirium, SWISS's A340 fleet is scheduled for only 149 flights this month from Zürich to Johannesburg, Seoul, and Shanghai. The incoming A350s are expected to start operating flights to Boston beginning in January.

For August, SWISS's A330s account for approximately 790 flights with key destinations including Boston and New York JFK from Zürich. The Boeing 777-300ER fleet is scheduled for about 561 flights this month serving routes such as Bangkok, Chicago, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, São Paulo, and Singapore from Zürich Airport.

Booking for the First Grand Suite will be available via a dedicated hotline once installations begin.
