Cathay Pacific has reopened its redesigned flagship lounge at Beijing Capital International Airport, continuing its investment in the Chinese Mainland and its network-wide lounge enhancement program. The reopening follows the recent launch of The Bridge lounge at Hong Kong International Airport in May.

A launch event for the new Beijing lounge took place on August 15, attended by Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer Ronald Lam, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau, Director Chinese Mainland Arnold Cheng, Director Customer Travel Erica Peng, and Director Service Delivery Mandy Ng. Li Chun, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Capital International Airport, also attended alongside industry partners and other guests.

Ronald Lam stated: “We are incredibly excited to reopen the doors of our latest flagship Beijing lounge today, which underscores our unique position of having deep roots in Hong Kong, being proudly part of China and connecting the world. Having one of our best lounges located at the capital’s airport is especially important to us. The redesigned lounge complements Cathay Pacific’s seven daily return flights between Hong Kong and Beijing this summer, as we strive to offer customers greater choice and convenience — both in the air and on the ground — when they travel with us.

From its layout and lighting to its furnishings and completely revamped dining offerings featuring a unique selection of special dishes inspired by local Beijing flavours, we seek to create the inviting ambience that mirrors the warmth and familiarity of our lounges in Hong Kong and around the world. Our goal is to make our members and customers truly feel at home and well looked after from the very start of their journey with us.”

The new Beijing lounge incorporates features such as natural light optimization through roofing and window orientation, use of materials like cherry wood finish and limestone for a residential feel, as well as a podium-style reception format first introduced at The Bridge in Hong Kong earlier this year. This location is also Cathay Pacific’s first outside Hong Kong to introduce Lounge Ambassadors for personalized customer service.

The Main Lounge area includes designer furniture arranged for both comfort and privacy. Dining options include three distinct propositions: an updated Noodle Bar serving signature dishes like wonton noodles alongside regional specialties such as Beijing bean paste noodles; a Food Hall offering self-serve international dishes; and for the first time outside Hong Kong, a Teahouse where guests can enjoy premium Chinese teas prepared by tea specialists.

Other amenities feature The Terrace—an open-ceiling verandah with bespoke Solo Chairs—and an art collection curated in partnership with contributors from Cathay Pacific’s “Gallery in the Skies” initiative.

Cathay Pacific operates two additional lounges in mainland China: one at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and another at Shekou Cruise Home Port in Shenzhen for intermodal travelers. In Hong Kong, several lounges are available including The Bridge (recently reopened), The Deck (now an interim First class lounge), The Pier (First/Business), while renovations continue on The Wing facilities.

Looking ahead, Cathay Pacific plans further investments exceeding HK$100 billion into aircraft upgrades, cabin products, digital innovations, as well as new flagship lounges in both Hong Kong and New York over coming years.
