Earlier this week, Delta Air Lines flight DL668 from New York JFK to San Francisco International was diverted to John Glenn Columbus International Airport due to a medical emergency onboard. The incident involved a passenger who went into labor about an hour after takeoff, prompting the crew to seek an unscheduled landing in Ohio.
There were 135 passengers and six crew members on the Boeing 757-200 at the time. According to Flightradar24 data, the aircraft left JFK at 07:23 and landed in Columbus at around 08:45. Medical responders met the plane upon arrival, and the passenger was taken into care before the aircraft continued its journey.
A Delta spokesperson stated to Simple Flying, "As the health and safety of our people and customers comes before all else at Delta, our flight crew followed procedures to safely divert to Columbus due to an onboard customer medical situation."
