FedEx and Junior Achievement (JA) have announced the winners of the 2025 FedEx/JA International Trade Challenge (ITC) Asia Pacific regional competition, held in Singapore. The event brought together 54 finalists from nine markets—Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam—out of more than 4,700 student participants.

This year’s challenge tasked students with developing a market entry strategy for environmentally friendly products made by upcycling discarded textiles into sustainable consumer goods for the French market. Participants formed teams of two from different countries or regions to foster cross-cultural understanding and presented their business ideas to a panel of judges composed of entrepreneurs and small business owners from Singapore.

Kawal Preet, president of FedEx Asia Pacific region, stated:

The winning team was Spicy Noodles—Jamie Smith from South Korea and Kathy Nguyen from Vietnam—who impressed judges with an innovative concept that transforms discarded textiles into custom embroidered art as part of an eco-friendly upcycle brand.

Two teams shared second place. Team Innovement—Janelle Anika S. Tan from the Philippines and Royden So from Hong Kong—proposed smart wall panels made from waste textiles. Team T ReTex—Panasarn Traithavil from Thailand and Lan Anh Phan from Vietnam—suggested a new product for residential solar panels.

Winners Jamie Smith and Kathy Nguyen commented:

Maziar Sabet, JA Asia Pacific President & CEO said:

For the first time this year, FedEx will offer special opportunities for winners to visit its operational facilities in various countries to deepen their understanding of global commerce. This hands-on experience is expected to provide valuable insights into logistics and supply chain management that complement entrepreneurial skills.

Over the past 19 years, more than 50,000 students in Asia Pacific have participated in the FedEx/JA ITC program through classroom learning and practical team exercises focused on business, economics, and international trade. In addition to supporting young entrepreneurs through JA ITC initiatives such as this one, FedEx also runs grant contests aimed at helping small businesses across Asia Pacific.

Judges praised both the organization of the event and student efforts:

Aire founder Nivedita Venkateish said:

Belina Tan of The Walt Disney Company added:

Foodpanda’s Ze Ming Chan remarked:
