Japan Airlines has announced a new collaboration with Uber Japan, offering miles and ride discounts to new domestic users of the Uber taxi dispatch app. The announcement was made on the social media platform X.

According to Japan Airlines, the partnership with Uber Japan aims to strengthen ties between air travel and local ground transportation services. The campaign targets new users of Uber’s domestic taxi dispatch app by integrating ride benefits with JAL’s Mileage Bank program. By combining taxi discounts with airline miles, JAL positions this promotion as part of a broader strategy to enhance customer loyalty through multi-sector partnerships.

Japan Airlines said that the first 10,000 domestic registrants of the Uber Japan app will receive 500 JAL Mileage Bank miles, directly credited to their accounts. Additionally, participants are eligible for up to 2,500 yen off their first Uber ride, creating an immediate financial incentive alongside long-term mileage accumulation. This dual incentive system reflects a calculated effort by both companies to boost first-time app downloads while simultaneously expanding JAL’s loyalty membership base.

The airline explained that the campaign extends beyond Japan to selected overseas regions where Uber services are active, allowing customers to benefit internationally. This ensures that JAL Mileage Bank members can continue earning and redeeming perks while traveling abroad, linking airline rewards with urban mobility in foreign markets. According to JAL, this represents an important evolution of its loyalty program, aligning with global travel behaviors of its frequent flyers.

According to its corporate profile, Japan Airlines (JAL) is the flag carrier of Japan, established in 1951 and headquartered in Tokyo. The airline operates one of the largest domestic and international networks in Asia and is a founding member of the Oneworld alliance, connecting passengers to over 400 destinations worldwide. JAL is recognized for its JAL Mileage Bank loyalty program, premium service offerings, and frequent collaborations with travel and technology partners to enhance passenger experiences.
