Ontario International Airport has announced a partnership with UCR Health to enhance nursing rooms in Terminals 2 and 4. The improvements include additional space, amenities, and accessibility features aimed at assisting traveling families.

According to Ontario International Airport’s official announcement, the upgraded nursing rooms were introduced in conjunction with National Breastfeeding Month, underscoring the airport’s commitment to family-friendly travel. The facilities feature expanded layouts, refreshed décor, and new privacy enhancements to better accommodate parents with infants. By partnering with UCR Health, Ontario International Airport is aligning with medical experts to ensure the rooms meet health, comfort, and accessibility standards for traveling families.

The airport said that the new nursing rooms are located at Gate 207 in Terminal 2 and Gate 408 in Terminal 4. These updated spaces now include power outlets for breast pumps and devices, comfortable seating, and enhanced accessibility for passengers with mobility needs. The upgrades are part of a wider modernization strategy aimed at improving facilities for diverse groups of travelers.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 84 percent of U.S. infants begin life being breastfed, but only 25 percent are exclusively breastfed through six months, partly due to a lack of supportive spaces in public settings. The CDC reports that accessible lactation rooms like those being introduced at airports help reduce barriers for mothers who travel. Ontario International Airport’s collaboration with UCR Health reflects this national trend of prioritizing family care infrastructure in transit hubs.
