Ethiopian Airlines Group has inaugurated a new airport in Yabello, located in the southern part of Oromia Regional State. The opening was marked by the launch of a new passenger service to the airport. The event included attendance from government officials, executives from Ethiopian Airlines, community representatives, and other stakeholders.
The project cost more than 1 billion Ethiopian birr and is situated 11 kilometers from Yabello Town in Borena Zone. The development includes a new airfield, access roads, a temporary terminal, and supporting facilities.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew stated, “The completion of the Yabello Airport project demonstrates Ethiopian Airline’s commitment to advancing aviation infrastructure that transforms lives and connect communities across Ethiopia. This is a transformative moment for the local community and the entire region, and as the flag carrier of Ethiopia, we are proud to have made this moment a reality.”
