Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is recognized as the busiest airport in the world by passenger numbers and aircraft movements. Despite this, ATL does not have the largest airport lounge globally. The title of the world's largest lounge belongs to Emirates' First Class Lounge at Dubai International Airport, which spans 100,000 square feet and occupies the entire upper floor of Concourse A.

In Atlanta, American Express has made a significant investment in its Centurion Lounge at ATL, which opened early last year. The lounge covers more than 26,000 square feet across indoor and outdoor areas and is described by Skift as American Express's "most impressive airport lounge yet." It features boutique outdoor terraces equipped with heaters and fans for year-round use, offering views of the airport apron and Atlanta skyline. Local artist Evan Blackwell Helgeson painted abstract murals throughout the space.

A notable feature inside is a group of 50-year-old olive trees at the center of the main seating area, along with a 3,850-square-foot light sculpture intended to evoke a forest canopy. Dining options are curated by chef Deborah VanTrece, known for her restaurant Twisted Soul Cookhouse in Atlanta. Her menu includes gluten-free and vegan alternatives alongside traditional Southern-inspired dishes made with local ingredients.

According to Forbes, guests can try dishes such as black eyed pea biryani or za'atar grilled chicken thighs with green tomato chimichurri. VanTrece is also recognized as a James Beard Award nominee and hosts her own cooking show on Hulu.

The lounge houses 'The Reserve,' American Express’s first dedicated whiskey bar led by mixologist Jim Meehan. It offers five whiskey-based cocktails including "Drink a Peach," as well as over two dozen different whiskeys. The bar has leather seating and an exclusive cocktail menu not available elsewhere in the lounge.

Additional amenities include four private phone booths for business travelers or families seeking privacy, complimentary WiFi, printers, photocopiers, televisions with various channels, departure boards for flight updates, and concierge service. There is also a multi-purpose room near the buffet suitable for families but without toys. The Centurion Lounge is located in Concourse E near gate E11 and operates daily from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm; it is non-smoking and requires guests under 18 to be accompanied by an adult.

ATL offers more than a dozen lounges overall. Delta Air Lines maintains lounges in all seven concourses—two in Concourse A (including one near gate A17), three in Concourse B (including Be Relax Spa and Minute Suites), one each in Concourses C and D, several options including Minute Suites and Delta Sky Club in Concourse E alongside the Centurion Lounge, plus facilities like The Club at ATL in Concourse F. Concourse T features lounges from American Airlines (Admirals Club), Delta (Sky Club), United (United Club), and USO (outside security). The USO Lounge provides free access to active U.S. military members and their families from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm daily.

Located about ten miles from downtown Atlanta, Hartsfield-Jackson serves as Delta’s primary hub—operating over 1,000 flights per day to more than 225 destinations—and also supports carriers such as Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Spirit Airlines. International flights depart primarily from Concourses E and F; only Concourse F can accommodate an Airbus A380 aircraft.

The airport consists of two terminals connected by seven concourses with a total of 193 gates. Domestic operations are on the west side while international flights depart from the east side. Passengers move between concourses using an underground pedestrian tunnel or "The Plane Train," which runs around-the-clock every day.

"Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport boasts more than a dozen lounges, with Delta Air Lines having the most prominent network, featuring a lounge in all seven concourses."

"VanTrece is well known in the South as one of the most recognized culinary personalities. Not only is she the director and owner of Twisted Soul Cookhouse, but also Orethas at the Point. VanTrece added the James Beard Award nomination to her list of accomplishments, which also includes being a best-selling author. She is also the host of her own cooking show, Global Soul Kitchen, which streams on Hulu."

"The popularity of this lounge has been fierce, complementing the Centurion Lounge network across the US and further afield. American Express Centurion Lounges are big business, and AMEX has pioneered what a credit card company can do in this space."
