Singapore Airlines has announced upcoming changes to its KrisFlyer loyalty program, set to take effect on November 1, 2025. The airline will increase the number of miles required for award bookings across its own flights, Star Alliance partner flights, and cabin upgrades.

The changes mean that booking a flight using KrisFlyer miles will soon cost more for most routes. For Singapore Airlines-operated flights, members will see up to a 20% rise in points needed for some bookings. The largest increases affect Advantage awards, which offer more flexibility than Saver awards but now come with higher redemption rates.

A detailed breakdown shows that Saver redemptions within Asia and the Southwest Pacific will see a 5% decrease in economy class but a 5% increase in business and first class. Saver redemptions to Europe and the U.S. will go up by 5% across all classes. Flights to Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey will experience increases between 10% and 20%. Advantage awards are also rising: economy class in Zone 10 goes up by 5%, business class by 18%, first class by 15%, while other zones see increases of between 10% and 15%.

Star Alliance partner flights are also affected. Redemption rates on these partners are increasing by about 10%. For travelers based in North America, one-way economy flights within North America rise from 14,000 to 15,000 miles; business class goes from 26,000 to 29,000 miles. Economy flights from North America to Hawaii or Central America move from 19,500 to 20,500 miles; business class rises from 39,000 to 43,000 miles. One-way trips from North America to Europe increase from 30,500 to 32,500 miles in economy and from 81,000 to 89,500 miles in business class.

Upgrades using KrisFlyer miles will also require more points—between a 5% and a 10% increase depending on the travel zone.

In addition to these adjustments, Singapore Airlines is introducing Access awards starting November. These new awards allow members to book any available seat on Singapore Airlines flights using their miles when Saver or Advantage space is not available. Pricing for Access awards will be dynamic and based on demand. The airline has not released specific pricing details yet but indicated that existing Saver and Advantage award charts would remain.

According to industry comparisons with programs like Delta SkyMiles and United MileagePlus—which use similar dynamic pricing models—Access award rates could become significantly higher during peak travel periods.

Travelers who wish to secure current redemption rates are advised to book before November when the new pricing takes effect.

"Unfortunately, this devaluation affects almost every route you can book with KrisFlyer," according to the release. "If you're booking a flight on Singapore Airlines' own planes, you will see as much as a 20% increase in the number of points required to book."

"The worst changes are for KrisFlyer's Advantage awards," it continues. "Meanwhile, Star Alliance partner flights are also getting more expensive."

The statement adds: "This isn't the worst devaluation we've seen in the points and miles world... If you're in the market for a KrisFlyer award ticket, book it now before prices increase this November."

KrisFlyer's new Access option "will be dynamically priced based on demand," though full details have not yet been provided.
