Hainan Airlines has announced the commencement of direct flights between Jakarta and Haikou, set to begin on September 26. The airline will operate this route four times weekly. The announcement was made on the social media platform X.

According to AeroRoutes, Hainan Airlines is introducing this new air link between Jakarta, a significant Southeast Asian city known for its commerce and tourism, and Haikou, the capital of Hainan Province, often referred to as the "Hawaii of China." The service will utilize Boeing 737-800 aircraft, providing efficient connectivity for both business and leisure travelers. Flights are scheduled from September 26 with HU701 operating from Haikou to Jakarta and HU702 returning. This schedule is planned to continue through October 24, 2025.

The new route will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. According to Hainan Airlines' official post on X, this schedule aims to cater to both spontaneous tourists and regular business passengers by offering frequent travel options.

Haikou Meilan International Airport, where the new service will land, is the busiest airport in Hainan. It handled over 24.34 million passengers in 2023 and ranks among China's busiest regional airports. As reported by Travel and Tour World, these figures underscore Haikou's growing importance in regional connectivity.

Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Haikou, Hainan Airlines is China's largest privately owned airline and one of Asia's major carriers. Industry data indicates that the airline operates over 120 aircraft across more than 120 destinations under the International Air Transport Association (IATA) code "HU," highlighting its strong domestic presence and expanding international reach.
