Federal Express Corporation has officially opened a new global air transit facility at Istanbul Airport, aiming to strengthen its logistics operations and support the growth of cross-border e-commerce. The inauguration event brought together FedEx executives including Raj Subramaniam, president and chief executive officer; Richard W. Smith, chief operating officer, International and chief executive officer, Airline; Wouter Roels, president of FedEx Europe; Eser Sezek, vice president of ground operations for FedEx Türkiye; as well as local airport and aviation officials.
The facility began operations in August 2025 and marks a significant investment by FedEx in Türkiye. It is intended to reinforce the company’s global network by leveraging advanced logistics infrastructure and technology.
“This new facility in Istanbul is a strategic move for FedEx, further integrating our global air and ground networks and delivering the scale and flexibility our customers need in a dynamic trade environment.” said Smith. “It is also a key step in unleashing the power of our combined networks to create long-term value and capture growth in the global air freight market.”
