Qatar Airways is increasing its Airbus A380 flights between Doha and Bangkok to a record four daily departures, starting October 26. The airline, which has eight operational A380s in a three-class configuration of 517 seats each, will now operate up to 25 weekly A380 flights on this route during the winter schedule.

Cirium Diio data shows that Qatar Airways is currently the world’s fourth-largest operator of the double-decker aircraft, behind Emirates, British Airways, and Singapore Airlines. The airline averages six daily A380 departures from its Doha hub, an increase from four during the same period last year. This growth follows the reactivation of additional aircraft and adjustments to other routes.

Last winter season, Qatar Airways operated only one daily A380 service to Bangkok. The increased frequency this year is partly due to a reduction in A380 services on London Heathrow flights. Despite halving Heathrow's A380 departures, the carrier will have a record ten daily flights overall to Heathrow and up to five London-bound flights within 35 minutes when including London Gatwick.

The Doha-Bangkok route covers approximately 2,855 nautical miles (5,287 km) each way. During the winter schedule, total frequency will reach up to 45 weekly flights—six or seven per day—with the A380 accounting for 57% of all departures. Other aircraft types on the route include Boeing 787-8s and 787-9s, Boeing 777-300ERs and 777-200LRs on select dates, as well as Airbus A350-1000s.

On November 1, there will be six departures between Doha and Bangkok; four of these will use the A380. Emirates also plans four daily A380 services between Dubai and Bangkok on that date.

Between July 2024 and June 2025, more than 930,000 round-trip passengers traveled with Qatar Airways between Doha and Bangkok. Most passengers connected onward through Doha to destinations such as London Heathrow, Paris CDG, Frankfurt, Manchester, Berlin, Barcelona, Milan, Riyadh, Madrid, and Jeddah.

The timing of these A380 flights aligns with peak arrival waves at Hamad International Airport in Doha from Europe and the Middle East. Early morning departures are fed by late-night arrivals from across Europe and neighboring regions.

Qatar Airways operates as a full-service carrier based at Doha Hamad International Airport. It was founded in 1993 and uses QR/QTR as its IATA/ICAO codes.
