Boeing reported the delivery of 57 aircraft in August 2025, its highest monthly total since August 2018. This brings the company's total deliveries for the year to 385 jets by the end of August, already surpassing its full-year figure for 2024. The majority of these deliveries came from the Boeing 737 MAX series, with an additional 14 widebody jets—including nine Boeing 787 Dreamliners—delivered during the month.

Deliveries to Chinese airlines resumed in August following a period of tariff-related delays, resulting in nine aircraft being handed over to carriers in China. Major US customers such as United Airlines and American Airlines also received new aircraft, while Ryanair was noted among international recipients. Boeing recorded a total of 26 new orders last month, highlighted by Cathay Pacific's purchase of 14 Boeing 777-9s. However, there were two cancellations for the Boeing 737 MAX program. Year-to-date, Boeing has secured 725 gross orders and holds a backlog of nearly 6,000 aircraft.

Industry analysis indicates that Boeing’s strong performance reflects both ongoing recovery and competitive pressures within the global market. According to CNBC, “the airline's improved production stability after facing years of supply chain challenges and labor disruptions” contributed to its robust August results. The company's ability to exceed last year's delivery totals within eight months is seen as a sign that it is aiming to restore output levels and rebuild trust with customers and investors.

The company’s bestselling Boeing 737 MAX line remains central to its business strategy. Widebody production also continues at a steady pace with notable deliveries including nine Dreamliners and four Boeing 777s last month.

On the commercial side, order activity suggests continued confidence in Boeing's product offerings. Cathay Pacific’s decision to expand its fleet with new widebody jets underscores support for the manufacturer’s long-term programs in key markets like Asia-Pacific. Additional orders were booked for both the Boeing 737 MAX and Boeing 787 Dreamliner families this year despite some cancellations or conversions.

Comparatively, Airbus delivered more aircraft in August (61) but has taken fewer orders so far this year (434). Industry observers note that while Airbus faces slow-moving backlogs that have redirected some customers toward Boeing due to quicker delivery timelines, Boeing must maintain quality standards amid increased production rates.

Despite past underperformance in aerospace stocks, "Boeing has actually delivered strong returns to investors this year." Investors who doubted summer prospects saw the company hit targets and outperform sector expectations.

Challenges remain for Boeing as it seeks certification for models like the Boeing 737 MAX 7/10 and the Boeing 777X families. Tariff-related logistical issues earlier this year posed significant hurdles even as sales outpaced those of Airbus.

Founded on July 15, 1916, with headquarters in Chicago and led by CEO Kelly Ortberg, Boeing continues focusing on key product lines such as the Boeing 737, Boeing 747, Boeing 757, Boeing 767, Boeing 777, and Boeing 787.
