ITA Airways announced on X that it has extended the suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv through October 31, including flights AZ809 and AZ815 scheduled for November 1.

According to Reuters, multiple international airlines, including Lufthansa, Air France, and British Airways, have suspended or extended cancellations of flights to Tel Aviv in response to the ongoing Israel–Gaza conflict. The report explained that carriers cited both safety risks and unstable operational conditions as reasons for their decisions. ITA Airways’ move reflects this industry-wide caution, as airlines seek to safeguard passengers and crews amid regional instability.

As noted on ITA Airways’ official website, the airline has formally extended its suspension of Tel Aviv services until October 31. This suspension specifically covers flights AZ809 and AZ815 scheduled for November 1, which will also not operate. The carrier said that affected passengers are eligible for free rebooking to later dates or can request a full refund while urging travelers to consult the "Flight Info" page to verify status before departing for the airport.

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv handled over 24 million passengers in 2019, making it one of the busiest hubs in the Middle East. The suspension of flights by European carriers, including ITA Airways, impacts not only leisure travel but also business connectivity and cargo transport. Analysts cited by IATA suggest that prolonged disruptions may have ripple effects across European and Middle Eastern aviation markets, potentially requiring route and capacity adjustments.

According to ITA Airways’ corporate profile, the airline was founded in October 2020 following the collapse of Alitalia and officially launched operations in 2021. ITA is headquartered in Rome and operates a modern fleet of Airbus aircraft across domestic, European, and intercontinental routes. As a member of the SkyTeam alliance, the airline emphasizes safety, sustainability, and connectivity as central pillars of its strategy while working to expand Italy’s presence in international aviation markets.
