August 2025 marked a milestone for Etihad Airways, as the airline carried more than two million passengers in a single month for the first time. This achievement reflects an increase of approximately 22% compared to August 2024, when the carrier transported 1.7 million passengers.

The average load factor for August also improved, rising from 89% last year to 91%. The airline expanded its network by adding five new destinations, increasing its total from 76 to 81 passenger routes. Its fleet grew as well, with the number of aircraft rising from 96 to 112—an increase of about 16.7%. The growth was supported by the introduction of the Airbus A321LR.

Etihad Airways CEO Antonoaldo Neves commented on these developments: "The successful introduction of our A321LR in August represents a significant enhancement to our product offering, bringing First Class suites and lie-flat Business seats to medium-haul routes for the first time in the region. With 81 destinations in our network and more than 20 additional routes confirmed, we remain focused on connecting the world through Abu Dhabi."

From January to August 2025, Etihad Airways carried a total of 14.2 million passengers with an average load factor of 88%, compared to 12 million passengers and an 86% load factor during the same period in 2024. This equates to an increase of around 18.3%.

The airline attributed this annual growth to "strong demand and highly efficient capacity utilisation." Neves added: "the trust travellers place in our people and the extraordinary service they deliver every day."

In terms of operations during August, Etihad scheduled over 8,800 flights, offered more than two million seats, and provided almost six billion available seat miles. Key destinations included Delhi, Jeddah, Kuwait, London Heathrow, Mumbai, and Riyadh—all served with four daily round trips from Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Earlier this summer, Etihad Airways reported its strongest-ever half-year results. Between January and June 2025, it carried a total of 10.2 million passengers—a rise of about 17% compared with the same period last year—with post-tax net profits growing by approximately one-third amid ongoing expansion (https://simpleflying.com/etihad-airways-h1-2025-financial-results/).

To support this growth trajectory, Etihad recruited an additional 125 pilots and over one thousand flight attendants during the first half of this year.
