Embraer has announced plans to increase its commercial aircraft production to 100 units per year by 2028. The Brazilian manufacturer, recognized as the world’s third largest planemaker, outlined this target following a significant order from Avelo Airlines for 50 E195-E2 jets. This deal, valued at $4.4 billion, is expected to support Embraer's growth and maintain steady output as deliveries begin in 2027.

In recent years, Embraer faced challenges similar to those experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Production numbers had been affected by supply chain disruptions related to aerostructures and engines sourced internationally, resulting in reduced deliveries in 2024. However, company officials say these issues have largely been resolved.

For 2025, Embraer forecasts between 77 and 85 commercial jet deliveries—a projected improvement of about ten percent over previous figures. CEO Francisco Gomes Neto addressed ongoing concerns:

"2026 will still be a more challenging year for commercial jet production. Starting in 2027, we'll resume our strong growth plan, and I expect that in 2028 we'll be hitting 100 commercial aircraft per year."

The last time Embraer delivered over 100 aircraft annually was in 2017.

Avelo Airlines currently operates a fleet of Boeing 737 Next Generation planes and has expanded its service since launching operations in 2021. The addition of the E195-E2s will mark the airline's largest aircraft order so far.

Embraer continues to play a key role as a supplier of regional jets within the United States market. Many major carriers’ regional subsidiaries operate fleets made up primarily or exclusively of Embraer models.

The E195-E2 represents the latest advancement in Embraer's product line. It offers improvements such as lower fuel consumption due to aerodynamic enhancements and new wing designs, along with decreased noise emissions compared to earlier models. According to Embraer, this jet is now their most efficient single-aisle offering and features new systems like the E2 Enhanced Takeoff System (E2TS), providing increased range even from shorter runways.

Leeham News and Analysis reports that Avelo intends to introduce these jets on routes starting with Key West, Florida.

The agreement with Avelo follows recent public attention on the airline for participating in government charter flights operated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Despite controversy surrounding these operations, financial returns from federal contracts have enabled Avelo’s substantial purchase from Embraer.
