The Walmart+ membership benefit available to holders of The Platinum Card from American Express and the American Express Business Gold Card is expanding. Starting September 15, Walmart+ members will be able to choose between two streaming services at no additional cost.

Currently, Walmart+ members have access to the ad-supported Paramount+ Essential plan. Beginning next week, they will also have the option to select the ad-supported Peacock Premium plan. Members can switch between these two services every 90 days.

A standard Walmart+ membership costs $98 plus tax annually or $12.95 plus tax per month. Holders of Amex Platinum and Business Gold cards are eligible for a monthly statement credit covering up to $12.95 plus applicable taxes for Walmart+, provided they enroll in the offer. This credit does not apply to annual memberships or Plus Ups enhanced delivery service.

Walmart+ was launched in 2020 as a paid membership program offering free shipping with no order minimums and free same-day grocery delivery on orders over $35 within certain distances. Other benefits include free pharmacy delivery, online veterinary support, fuel discounts at participating gas stations, auto care perks such as flat tire repair and road hazard warranties on new tires purchased and installed at Walmart, a 25% discount at Burger King with a free Whopper every three months, free home returns without printing or repackaging, and up to 5% in Walmart Cash when booking travel through Walmart+ Travel.

The program previously included ad-free access to select Pluto TV content, but this benefit ended on September 2.

To receive the Amex statement credits for Walmart+, cardholders must sign up for a monthly membership with automatic renewal or update their payment method on an existing account with their eligible card. Credits typically appear within a few days after each monthly charge but may take up to six to eight weeks.

For those interested in both Paramount+ and Peacock subscriptions without switching every 90 days via Walmart+, there are alternative ways to get complimentary access. Instacart+ offers Peacock for free as part of its grocery delivery service; eligible Chase credit card holders or U.S. Mastercard users can get three months of Instacart+ at no cost before paying $99 per year or $9.99 per month if they continue.

Amex Platinum also provides up to $20 in monthly statement credits for digital entertainment purchases—including Disney+, Hulu, The New York Times, Peacock, and others—when bought directly from providers (enrollment required). Peacock’s plans range from Select ($7.99/month) and Premium ($10.99/month), both ad-supported, to Premium Plus ($16.99/month), which is ad-free.

Spectrum customers with TV Select packages and some Xfinity subscribers—including those with certain TV boxes or high-speed internet—can receive Peacock Premium at no extra charge through their providers.

"Walmart+ members will be able to choose between two streaming options — a Paramount+ Essential plan or Peacock Premium plan — included for no extra cost as of Sept. 15. Switching between the two plans is allowed every 90 days. This is a nice new benefit — especially if you're receiving complimentary Walmart+ from your Amex Platinum or Business Gold (separate enrollment required for Paramount+)."
