WestJet has announced a significant order for Boeing aircraft, confirming plans to acquire up to 96 new planes. The agreement includes both 737 MAX and 787 models, expanding the airline's total order book to 123 aircraft with an additional 40 options. This purchase is described as the largest in WestJet’s history and is expected to support the carrier’s fleet requirements for nearly ten years.

The move positions WestJet to strengthen its competitive stance against Air Canada, its main rival. By increasing its fleet size, WestJet aims to enhance its market presence and service offerings.
