American Express has announced the launch of a new travel-focused mobile application, called the Amex Travel App. The app will be available for iOS devices starting Thursday, with an Android version expected in the coming weeks.

A key feature of the new app is the introduction of estimated wait times for Centurion Lounges. This function will allow users to see how long they might need to wait on a standby list before being admitted to a full lounge. At launch, this feature will also be available in the traditional Amex app and is set to be integrated into the new travel app over time. Users will have the option to join a lounge waitlist directly from their device.

The Amex Travel App offers additional features such as destination inspiration, unified tools for planning flights, hotels, and transportation, as well as booking capabilities. Travelers can also browse Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection properties through the platform.

Another element highlighted by American Express is digital stamps that commemorate past travel experiences. Each stamp represents a country or region where cardholders use their card while traveling. These digital collectibles can be customized with trip highlights and shared on social media or via text messages. The stamps are stored as unique tokens on a public blockchain.

American Express plans to introduce more features in future updates of the app, including personalized hotel recommendations and embedded award benefits but did not provide further details at this time.

In addition to launching its new travel app, American Express has hinted at other announcements later this week. A post on X (formerly Twitter) referenced “coming 9.18.25” alongside an image resembling a Platinum card, suggesting possible changes or updates related to its flagship product.
