John Wayne Airport reports increased domestic traffic but declining international numbers in July

John Wayne Airport has released its monthly statistics for July 2025, reporting an increase in total passenger traffic compared to the same month last year. The airport recorded 1,052,623 passengers in July 2025, which is an 8.4% rise from the 970,828 passengers in July 2024.

The number of enplaned passengers grew by 9.0% to reach 523,529, while deplaned passengers increased by 7.9% to a total of 529,094 for the month. Year-to-date figures show a slight decrease in overall passenger numbers with 6,493,754 passengers so far in 2025 compared to 6,507,273 at this point last year—a drop of 0.2%.

Total aircraft operations for July were reported at 30,003—nearly unchanged from the previous year’s figure of 29,981. General aviation flights decreased by 3.5%, but commercial operations rose by 6.0%. Commuter flights saw significant growth with a jump of 64.4% over July last year.

Air cargo handled by the airport dropped slightly in June (the most recent available data), totaling 1,198 tons—a decline of about -4.2% compared to June last year.

International travel through John Wayne Airport declined both for the month and year-to-date periods. Total international passenger numbers fell by -17.6% for July and are down -14.4% so far this year.

All-cargo carriers moved a combined total of 1,112 tons during June while passenger carriers transported an additional incidental belly cargo load of about 86 tons.

International statistics include all Canada and Mexico commercial passengers and operations.
