Small-business credit cards are increasingly being used by entrepreneurs to manage expenses and support growth. These cards can offer immediate access to capital, which is often needed in the early stages of a business when upfront costs such as inventory, advertising, and equipment must be covered before revenue begins.

Some small-business credit cards feature introductory offers like 0% annual percentage rates on purchases for a set period. For example, the Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card provides a 0% introductory APR for 12 months from account opening on purchases, after which a variable rate applies. This feature can help business owners manage significant initial expenses.

Business owners do not always need an Employer Identification Number (EIN) to apply for these cards; many issuers allow applications with just a Social Security number. This makes it possible for sole proprietors or those just starting out to access credit lines that can help fund their operations.

Dorie and Michael, who own Shiny Sparkle Labs in Brooklyn, New York, began their glass-blowing studio with a simple business credit card that had no annual fee. As their business grew, they added more cards to diversify rewards and enhance earning potential.

Rewards are another key benefit of small-business credit cards. Many offer cash back or travel points in categories relevant to businesses—such as online advertising, telecommunications, office supplies, and dining. For instance, the Ink Business Cash Credit Card gives 5% back at office supply stores and on internet, cable, and phone services (up to $25,000 per year), 2% back at gas stations and restaurants (also up to $25,000 per year), and 1% back on other purchases.

Business credit cards may also include additional perks aimed at companies. Premium products like the Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ provide statement credits for services including Google Workspace ($200 annually through December 2027), DoorDash credits each month through December 2027, ZipRecruiter credits ($400 annually through December 2027), Lyft ride credits through September 2027, and up to $100 per year in gift card statement credits through October 2028.

These cards typically come with tools that assist with expense management. Integration with bookkeeping software is common and helps simplify invoicing and tax preparation. Employers can issue additional employee cards with individualized spending limits—a way to ensure employees have purchasing power while maintaining control over spending.

Flexible payment options built into many small-business credit cards further help owners manage cash flow without incurring extra fees or needing additional products.

As stated in the article: "As a small-business owner, you have a lot to manage on a daily basis. Thankfully, there's a product that can help ease these burdens across many facets of your operations: business credit cards. From helping you get started to earning valuable rewards and unlocking numerous perks, the right card can help improve your bottom line. And with built-in tools to manage spending and cash flow, these cards can boost your efficiency — putting valuable time back in your pocket to focus on growing your business."

"If you own a small business — or are planning to start one soon — be sure to look into which business credit card is the best fit for you."
