Lynne Embleton, Chief Executive Officer | Aer Lingus Airlines

Aer Lingus has announced it will begin nonstop flights between Dublin Airport and Raleigh-Durham International Airport starting April 13, 2026. The new service will operate five times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. During the winter months, the frequency will decrease by one round trip per week.

The addition of Raleigh-Durham marks Aer Lingus’ 26th North American route and continues its expansion into medium-sized U.S. markets. This new connection is made possible by the airline’s use of the Airbus A321XLR aircraft, which is capable of long-haul international flights with a single-aisle design and features 16 lie-flat business-class seats.

Aer Lingus CEO Lynne Embleton said in a statement Wednesday: "We're delighted to be adding Raleigh-Durham International Airport to our growing North American network. It's a vibrant and thriving region with well-established links to Ireland, that will be further strengthened with our new direct service."

Raleigh-Durham International Airport has seen significant growth in international service recently. According to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium, airlines were expected to offer 62% more seats to cities outside the U.S. in 2025 compared to two years earlier (https://www.cirium.com/). New carriers at RDU include Air France, Lufthansa, Copa Airlines, and Aeromexico.

In addition to launching service at RDU, Aer Lingus plans to increase frequencies on other U.S. routes for summer 2026:

- Indianapolis International Airport and Nashville International Airport flights to Dublin will run five times weekly during summer 2026.

- Orlando International Airport flights to Dublin will become daily next summer.

- Boston Logan International Airport’s nonstop service to Shannon will operate ten times each week during peak summer months.

Aer Lingus reported that its U.S. departures in 2025 increased by approximately 36% over pre-pandemic levels in 2019 (https://www.cirium.com/). The airline says its summer 2026 schedule across the Atlantic will be its largest ever.

Travelers can book Aer Lingus award tickets using points from several major rewards programs including American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Bilt Rewards Points (https://www.aerlingus.com/), as well as Avios transferred from British Airways or other partner airlines through available tools (https://www.britishairways.com/).
