Mr. Mesfin Tasew Group Chief Executive Officer | Ethiopian Airlines

Ethiopian Airlines has received the Four-Star Global Airline award at the 2025 APEX Passenger Choice Awards. This recognition reflects the airline’s focus on delivering a service that meets international standards for passengers traveling to over 140 destinations worldwide.

Mr. Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, commented on the achievement: “We are truly honored to receive the prestigious ‘Four-Star Global Airline’ title once again. This award underscores Ethiopian Airlines’ determination to uphold the highest levels of service. We are thrilled to have our efforts recognized once more, motivating us to strive for even greater achievements.”

The APEX Five Star and Four-Star Airline Awards are based entirely on feedback from passengers, gathered through APEX’s partnership with TripIt from Concur. For this year’s awards, more than one million verified flights were rated by travelers across over 600 airlines using a five-star scale.

These awards undergo independent verification by an external auditing company. In 2025, only the top 40 airlines globally received Five Star status—less than 7% of all rated airlines—while Four Star was limited to the next 50 airlines worldwide, representing just 8%. Ethiopian Airlines’ placement in this group signals its standing among leading global carriers.

Ethiopian Airlines is one of Africa’s largest and fastest-growing airline brands. With nearly eight decades of operations, it serves both passenger and cargo networks across five continents and operates a modern fleet that includes Boeing and Airbus aircraft models. The airline pursues a multi-hub strategy with partnerships in Togo (ASKY), Malawi (Malawi Airlines), and Zambia (Zambia Airways). After achieving its Vision 2025 plan ahead of schedule, Ethiopian is now working toward Vision 2035 with aims to become one of the world’s top aviation groups.

The carrier has also been awarded Skytrax’s Best Airline in Africa Award for seven consecutive years and is a member of Star Alliance since 2011.
