Cathay Pacific has announced it will resume its Hong Kong to Seattle route next year, expanding its presence in the United States. The service, which will operate five times weekly using Airbus A350-900 aircraft, is set to restart on March 30, 2026. This marks the airline's return to the route after a six-year hiatus.

The flights will run on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Eastbound flight CX852 departs Hong Kong at 13:10 and arrives in Seattle at 10:10 after an 11-hour and 40-minute journey. The westbound return flight CX853 leaves Seattle at 11:50 and lands in Hong Kong at 16:45 the following day after nearly 14 hours in the air. During the peak summer months between May 31 and September 16, departure times from Seattle will shift by about 25 minutes later.

Lavinia Lau, Cathay Pacific’s Chief Customer & Commercial Officer, stated: "This route not only provides greater convenience for our customers, but also supports the growing demand for connectivity between Asia and North America, particularly among travellers from the Chinese Mainland and India."

The Airbus A350-900s used for this route feature three classes of service—business class with flatbeds arranged four-abreast in a 1-2-1 configuration, premium economy with eight seats per row (2-4-2), and economy class. According to aeroLOPA data referenced by Cathay Pacific, there are a total of 280 seats on these aircraft.

Lau highlighted that Seattle offers a “thriving tech scene, lush greenery and rich cultural offerings.” She added that passengers traveling through Hong Kong can connect to over 100 destinations worldwide via the Cathay Group’s network. In Seattle, travelers have access to further US destinations through oneworld partners Alaska Airlines and American Airlines.

To promote the relaunch of this route—Cathay Pacific’s ninth passenger destination in North America—the airline is offering discounted economy fares starting at HK$5,060 (about $650) for tickets booked between March 30 and June 30, 2026. The promotional sale runs until October 31.

The resumption of this transpacific link follows its initial launch in March 2019 and subsequent suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
