Delta Air Lines currently operates a fleet of 176 widebody aircraft, including 11 Airbus A330-200s, which are the least used among its widebody types. All of these A330-200s were originally acquired from Northwest Airlines and remain active in Delta's operations. Each aircraft is configured with 223 seats across four classes: Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort+, and Main Cabin.

In October, Delta will deploy its A330-200s on an average of 19 daily flights, according to Cirium Diio data. The typical route distance for these aircraft has decreased by 22% compared to ten years ago due to the introduction of newer models like the A330-900 and A350-900.

The airline’s main hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will see a significant increase in A330-200 activity this October. Compared to last year, Atlanta's share of A330-200 flights has risen from just over a quarter to 41%, with routes increasing from three to ten. Despite this growth, the A330-200 remains Delta’s least-used widebody at Atlanta when measured by number of flights.

For the New York JFK to Los Angeles route, Delta plans more A330-200 departures between October and December than at any time since 2018. Although frequencies drop from twice daily at the end of October to once daily by mid-November, this service will operate alongside other twin-aisle aircraft such as the A330-300 and Boeing 767 variants. The JFK-Los Angeles corridor is notable for being the most popular US domestic market by local passenger numbers and is second overall for total traffic behind Atlanta-Orlando.

Delta's use of the A330-200 reflects shifting operational needs as it continues to update its long-haul fleet with newer aircraft models while maintaining service on key transatlantic and high-demand domestic routes.
