Cathay Pacific has introduced a new Premium Economy cabin on its retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, marking a significant update to its inflight experience. The airline first launched Premium Economy in 2012 and has since influenced the industry standard for this class.

The latest upgrade is part of a broader investment that also includes updates to Business and Economy classes. According to Cathay Pacific, the new Premium Economy product was redesigned using over ten years of passenger feedback. Key features include enhanced privacy through redesigned headrests, increased seat pitch of 40 inches, seat width of 21 inches, and an 8-inch recline. Each seat is equipped with a personal reading light integrated into the headrest wings.

Additional storage options are available within the armrest, aiming to create a more organized space for passengers. The entertainment system now offers a 15.6-inch 4K widescreen monitor with Bluetooth audio streaming capability. The cabin design uses muted colors and provides amenities such as luxury pillows and blankets.

Dining options have been expanded to highlight Hong Kong’s culinary heritage, including dishes developed in collaboration with Michelin-starred restaurant Yat Tung Heen. Plant-based menu items are also available. Prosecco is served throughout the flight.

Passengers receive amenity kits made from environmentally friendly materials as part of Cathay Pacific’s sustainability initiatives. Dedicated lavatories for Premium Economy are located on each side of the cabin and feature touch-free technology for improved hygiene. Lavatory availability can be checked via the seatback screen.

A spokesperson from Airline Ratings commented on their recent experience: "Airlineratings was invited to experience the new Premium Economy first-hand, and it did not disappoint." They further noted: "The moment you sit down, the sense of privacy is striking, thanks to redesigned headrests."

Cathay Pacific aims for its updated Premium Economy offering to appeal to travelers seeking more comfort than standard Economy without moving up to Business class.
