Cathay Pacific has announced it will resume nonstop flights between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport beginning March 30, 2026. The service, which was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, will operate five times a week on Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays.

The airline will use its Airbus A350-900 for these flights, offering 38 lie-flat business-class seats, 28 premium economy seats, and 214 seats in the main cabin. This move makes Seattle Cathay Pacific's ninth North American destination and follows the recent launch of nonstop service to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

Cathay Pacific is a partner of both American Airlines and Alaska Airlines. This partnership allows U.S. travelers to redeem miles from these airlines for flights to Asia and beyond on Cathay Pacific. Additionally, points from major credit card programs can be transferred to Cathay Pacific’s loyalty program, Cathay, which is known for strong redemption value.

Seattle has seen significant growth in its flight offerings to Asia. In 2025, airlines are expected to offer 41% more seats out of Seattle compared to 2024. This increase is partly due to Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines starting new routes to Tokyo and Seoul following their merger.

Cathay Pacific previously launched this route in 2019 but canceled it due to pandemic-related cutbacks. Lavinia Lau, chief customer and commercial officer at Cathay Pacific, said: "We are excited to resume direct passenger flights to Seattle, reinforcing our goal to deepen business and cultural ties between Hong Kong and a dynamic tech hub in the United States."

Award travel options are available for the new route through various partner programs. For example, Clint Henderson of The Points Guy booked a one-way business-class seat from Seattle to Hong Kong for 75,000 Atmos Rewards points plus $18 in taxes and fees. Business-class award space is also available via American Airlines’ AAdvantage program for as few as 70,000 miles one way.

Travelers can also transfer points from American Express, Bilt Rewards, Capital One, or Citi directly into Cathay’s loyalty program for further redemption opportunities.
