American Airlines has announced the launch of a new nonstop route between Boston and Buffalo, scheduled to begin on March 8, 2026. The service will operate up to three times daily, marking the carrier's return to this route after it last operated in July 2017.
The flights will be operated by American Eagle subsidiaries Envoy Air and Republic Airways using Embraer E175 aircraft. Each plane will offer 12 first-class seats, 20 Main Cabin Extra seats with extra legroom, and 44 standard economy seats.
While American Airlines frequently introduces new domestic routes, it is uncommon for the airline to add service between two airports that are not its hubs. This move positions American as a direct competitor to JetBlue Airways on this route. JetBlue has held a monopoly on Boston-Buffalo flights since August 2023 when Delta Air Lines withdrew from the market.
