EVA Air has announced on the social media platform X that it will commence daily flights from Taipei to Busan starting October 21. This move aims to expand its network to South Korea's southeastern coast.

According to The Korea Herald, Busan is one of South Korea’s most visited cities, renowned for its coastal attractions such as Haeundae Beach, the Jagalchi Fish Market, and the Busan International Film Festival. The city has developed a global profile as both a cultural and leisure hub, drawing millions of tourists each year. EVA Air’s decision to connect Taipei directly to Busan underscores the importance of strengthening regional links to a city that has become a gateway for international tourism.

Statista reports that Taiwan–South Korea passenger traffic exceeded 1.3 million travelers in 2019 before the pandemic disrupted air travel, reflecting the strength of this bilateral market. The data indicates a steady recovery in traffic volumes since restrictions eased, with demand returning close to pre-pandemic levels. EVA Air’s daily Taipei–Busan flights are strategically positioned to capture this demand, particularly from leisure travelers seeking cultural exchange and short-haul getaways.

The Korea Tourism Organization reported that South Korea welcomed more than 11 million foreign visitors in 2023, marking a strong rebound compared to pandemic-era lows. Taiwan ranked among the top inbound markets, with Taiwanese tourists showing strong interest in South Korean culture, cuisine, and entertainment. At the same time, Korean travelers have been visiting Taiwan in growing numbers, reinforcing how new flight connections like EVA Air’s Busan route help strengthen tourism flows in both directions.

EVA Air was founded in 1989 and is headquartered in Taoyuan, Taiwan. It is an international airline serving over 60 destinations across Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. According to the company’s corporate profile, EVA Air is a 5-Star Airline certified by Skytrax and a member of the Star Alliance network. The carrier has built a reputation for safety, reliability, and service quality, which supports its expansion strategy with new daily routes like Taipei–Busan.
