Ethiopian Airlines announced on X that it will begin daily flights to and from Sharjah on October 26, 2025, expanding travel options in the region.
According to Gulf News, Sharjah International Airport welcomed more than 13 million passengers in 2022, highlighting its growing role in the UAE’s aviation sector. The airport has been investing heavily in infrastructure to increase capacity and improve passenger services, making it a competitive hub alongside Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Ethiopian Airlines’ new daily flights will connect East Africa to this expanding airport, giving travelers more options for entering the UAE.
Statista reports that the UAE handled over 101 million passengers across its airports in 2022, reaffirming its position as one of the busiest aviation markets worldwide. While Dubai International Airport remains the dominant hub, Sharjah has been attracting airlines seeking an alternative entry point into the region.
