A Rossiya Airlines Sukhoi Superjet 100 and a Hainan Airlines Airbus A330-300 were involved in a ground collision at Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO) on the evening of September 24, 2025. The incident occurred as the Rossiya aircraft was preparing for departure to Saint Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport, while the Hainan jet was scheduled to fly to Beijing Capital Airport.

According to reports from Reuters and AeroTime, the two aircraft—registered RA-89112 for Rossiya and B-1098 for Hainan—collided around 20:30 local time. The Aviation Safety Network provided details about the aircraft involved. The collision resulted in damage to the tail of the Sukhoi Superjet and affected the wing of the Airbus A330-300.

Rossiya Airlines stated: "While maneuvering, another airline's aircraft touched the rudder of our SSJ-100. Passengers on flight FV6097 were transferred to a reserve aircraft and safely transported to Saint Petersburg." There were 89 people onboard the Rossiya flight and 264 on the Hainan flight.

The damage caused delays and temporarily limited taxiway operations at Sheremetyevo. Passengers on Rossiya’s domestic service experienced a delay of several hours before being flown out on a replacement aircraft. Meanwhile, Hainan Airlines’ passengers reportedly had to spend the night in Moscow while waiting for another plane.

A spokesperson for Sheremetyevo International Airport commented that "the situation did not impact flight safety and was contained by emergency services," adding that emergency teams responded but did not need to provide assistance. Rosaviatsia spokesperson Artem Korenyako also said, "there were no risks to passengers" aboard either plane.

Live Journal reported that an investigation will be launched into the incident. According to Rosaviatsia’s Korenyako: "a thorough review of all circumstances, including the actions of the crews and the work of air traffic control services," will be conducted. He added that "compliance with flight safety regulations and passenger rights will be assessed."

Tracking data from Flightradar24 indicated that this was B-1098’s first trip back to Moscow since September 9. The route between Sheremetyevo International Airport and Saint Petersburg is regularly served by Rossiya’s RA-89112.

Although there were no injuries reported among passengers or crew, this event adds to recent concerns about incidents involving Russia’s Superjet fleet.
