Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has introduced the FedEx Import Tool in Indonesia, aiming to simplify the import process for businesses operating in the country. The new tool uses technology to address challenges related to international trade and customs clearance.

The company stated that the automated single-window solution is designed to provide greater visibility and efficiency for importers by centralizing document management and shipment tracking. The platform offers a dashboard with real-time clearance tracking, allowing users to monitor each stage of their shipments for up to 90 days after pickup. Customers receive proactive notifications via email and mobile, which can help reduce delays in the clearance process.

Additional features include flexible options for uploading documents either proactively or upon request from an agent, as well as easy retrieval of post-clearance paperwork. The system allows various login methods so that shippers, importers, or consignees can manage shipments with or without a fedex.com ID.

Garrick Thompson, Managing Director of FedEx Indonesia, said: "Many Indonesian businesses, particularly SMEs, are ready to expand internationally but often face friction in navigating cross-border regulations and processes. As global trade evolves, so must the tools that support it. With the FedEx Import Tool, we are not just simplifying customs clearance - we are supporting a smarter approach to trade efficiency. By cutting through complexity with smart digital solutions, we help businesses move faster, scale smarter, and stay competitive globally."

According to recent data, Indonesia’s total imports reached US$235.2 billion in 2024—a rise of 5.42% compared to the previous year—highlighting growing demand for streamlined customs procedures.

FedEx noted that this latest offering aligns with its broader mission of making supply chains more efficient through digital innovation. Earlier this year, the company launched its Collaborative Shipping Tool in Indonesia. This tool is intended to facilitate smoother cooperation between importers and shippers during Airway Bill creation.

Other digital services from FedEx include Ship Manager—which helps small businesses manage online shipments—and Ship Manager Lite for mobile use. The company also applies machine learning technology to provide customers with estimated four-hour delivery windows.

FedEx operates one of the world’s largest express transportation networks and delivers packages across more than 220 countries and territories.
