A new agreement between Long Beach Airport and concession partner Paradies Lagardère will bring additional dining and retail options to the airport. The 14-year contract allows Paradies Lagardère to operate new pre-security concessions in the Meeters and Greeters Plaza and in the Historic Terminal, while also extending its current post-security operations through November 30, 2039.

According to city officials, these changes are part of ongoing efforts to modernize the airport and improve passenger experience. Mayor Rex Richardson stated, “Our award-winning Airport continues to prove why it’s the preferred gateway to Southern California. On top of other recent modernizations, as well as our live music offerings, revitalized concessions ensure that we’re giving visitors a real taste of Long Beach.”

The agreement includes more than $1.8 million in capital improvements for building out pre-security concessions with fast-casual and grab-and-go options. Additionally, Paradies Lagardère plans to invest about $3.6 million in post-security areas for enhanced food, beverage, and retail services. Planned upgrades include reimagined seating areas, expanded patio dining, upgraded storefronts, and refreshed concepts that align with Long Beach Airport’s brand.

Fourth District Councilman Daryl Supernaw commented on the expansion: “From the moment travelers arrive at Long Beach Airport, we want them to feel welcomed and at ease, even before they enter security. This expanded partnership represents a long-term investment in that charm and atmosphere that makes our Airport so special.” Fifth District Councilwoman Megan Kerr added, “Our Long Beach Airport continues to balance world-class service with unique and convenient offerings. With these new pre-security concessions and upgraded spaces, we’re making travel through LGB even more welcoming, comfortable and convenient for everyone who passes through.”

The improvements are designed to complement existing local restaurant and retail providers at the airport as well as its entertainment programming. Cynthia Guidry, Director of Long Beach Airport said, “We know there’s a demand from travelers and visitors alike for food and beverage options in the Plaza and Historic Terminal. These new offerings, coupled with live entertainment, assure that Long Beach Airport is not only a gateway to Southern California but also a destination in itself.”

Pre-security concessions are scheduled to open in 2026 with phased enhancements continuing over several years. The construction is not expected to disrupt air service.

Gregg Paradies, CEO of Paradies Lagardère said: “We’re honored to expand our partnership with Long Beach Airport. The Market at LGB and the refreshed post-security locations highlight local favorites and reflect our shared vision of celebrating Long Beach’s authentic culture while elevating the overall travel experience.”

Long Beach Airport has been recognized nationally for its quality; it was ranked second-best airport in the United States by The Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2024/03/01/best-airports-us-2024-ranking/).
