Delta Air Lines has announced a new partnership with YouTube, offering passengers ad-free access to a broad catalog of videos, podcasts, and music during flights. The initiative will be available on Delta flights equipped with in-flight WiFi, allowing travelers to browse millions of YouTube videos while onboard.

The announcement was made at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, highlighting the collaboration as the first between one of the world’s largest airlines and a major video-sharing platform. Julieta McCurry, Delta’s Vice President of In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity, said: “This partnership was born from a simple but powerful insight: our customers love YouTube. As two leaders in our respective spaces, each with a legacy of innovation and a deep commitment to serving as agents of human connection, Delta and YouTube are uniquely positioned to deliver an unmatched customer experience – one that meets you where you are and helps you discover more of your world.”

SkyMiles members will have additional benefits through this collaboration. Starting October 1, members can log into Delta Sync WiFi on personal devices during domestic flights to receive a complimentary 14-day preview of YouTube Premium. This offer does not require credit card information or any form of payment. The typical monthly cost for YouTube Premium is $13.99 for individuals, $22.99 for families, and $7.99 for students.

Passengers can access the content through seatback entertainment systems or by streaming via the Delta app on their own devices. Currently, Delta offers over 165,000 seatback screens across more than 930 aircraft.

As part of this expanded partnership, boarding music will also be provided by YouTube Music featuring an instrumental pop playlist.

Delta Sync represents what the airline describes as the first cloud-based inflight entertainment infrastructure globally. It features up to 4K HDR QLED seatback displays with Bluetooth capabilities so passengers can use their wireless headphones or other personal devices. The system includes a large-capacity cloud server—96 terabytes—which is significantly larger than standard in-flight entertainment systems and supports advanced recommendation technology to tailor content choices based on passenger preferences.

The technology advancements are enabled through a collaboration with Hughes Fusion that allows simultaneous multi-network connectivity throughout Delta’s network.
