Long Beach Airport has introduced a new security screening lane and redesigned its security queue to improve passenger flow and reduce wait times. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) now operates six screening lanes at the airport, up from five. The revised layout moves the security queue away from the Ticketing Lobby, aiming to streamline the process during busy travel periods.

Mayor Rex Richardson said, “By making the security queue process more efficient with an improved layout and additional lane, Long Beach Airport is reinforcing its commitment to convenience and a first-class traveler experience. With these improvements, we are giving travelers time back in their day to better enjoy their journeys and easing congestion during our busiest times, which is especially important and as we welcome visitors for the upcoming World Cup and 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

The changes were developed in partnership with TSA. Jason Pantages, TSA Federal Security Director, stated, “This additional screening lane will further streamline operations and improve efficiency for all passengers departing from Long Beach. Along with this year’s successful implementation of the REAL ID requirement and TSA’s new Shoes-On policy for standard passengers, we are committed to delivering a first-class travel experience while upholding the highest security standards.”

Passengers can also use other services such as TSA PreCheck and CLEAR to save time at Long Beach Airport. Cynthia Guidry, Airport Director, said, “We are constantly looking to enhance the already award-winning passenger experience at Long Beach Airport. This improvement helps our passengers get to their gate, and ultimately their destination, even faster.”

The airport recently completed its Terminal Roadway Improvement Project aimed at improving vehicle access and adding accessibility features. These projects support ongoing efforts under a $125 million terminal area improvement program designed to make travel smoother.

Long Beach Airport serves as a hub between Los Angeles and Orange counties with carriers offering nonstop flights to 21 destinations across the United States.

The City of Long Beach is home to about 466,000 residents along Southern California’s coast. It hosts several major attractions including Queen Mary and Aquarium of the Pacific alongside Long Beach Airport.
