United Airlines has announced plans to upgrade its check-in lobby at Guam’s Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, as well as introduce new aircraft on routes serving the region. The airline operates a major hub at the airport, providing both international and regional connections for Micronesia and beyond.

The redesigned check-in area will feature new kiosks that are 55% faster than current models, aiming to reduce congestion during peak times and save passengers time at the airport. These improvements are part of United’s broader effort to enhance customer experience across its Pacific network.

David Kinzelman, United's chief customer officer, said: "Our investment in new aircraft and a complete refresh of our lobby in Guam will deliver the premium experience our customers expect of United and is part of our broader commitment to elevating the customer experience for our customers in Guam and the broader Pacific region. For customers with connecting flights to or from the mainland U.S., these investments will mean a consistent, seamless experience from check-in to landing."

Alongside facility upgrades, United will begin deploying Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on Guam routes starting in February. The new planes will replace older Boeing 737-800s currently operating in the region. Passengers can expect updated interiors with dedicated seatback entertainment screens, larger overhead bins, onboard WiFi (available for purchase), extra legroom options, wireless Bluetooth connectivity for headphones, and LED lighting designed to make cabins brighter and more comfortable.

The airline also plans schedule adjustments for travelers between Guam and Saipan International Airport. Flights will depart four hours earlier at 06:00, resulting in a 55-minute connection window in Guam for those continuing onward to Honolulu.

United employs over 1,000 staff members throughout Micronesia. According to Sam Shinohara, United’s Managing Director of Airport Operations in Asia-Pacific as reported by Kuam News, this investment demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to operations in the region.

From its hub three miles from Hagåtña—the capital city—United serves 15 domestic and international destinations including Honolulu; several locations within Micronesia such as Chuuk, Kosrae, Kwajalein, Majuro, Pohnpei, Saipan, Yap; as well as cities like Manila (Philippines), Nagoya–Centrair and Osaka–Kansai (Japan), Taipei–Taoyuan (Taiwan), Tokyo–Haneda/Narita (Japan), and Koror (Palau).

Other airlines flying from Guam include Air Busan, Air Seoul, China Airlines, Japan Airlines, Jeju Air, Jin Air, Korean Air, Philippine Airlines, Star Marianas Air, Starlux Airlines and T’way Air. Key international destinations served by these carriers include Seoul–Incheon (South Korea), Busan (South Korea), Taipei–Taoyuan (Taiwan) and Tokyo–Narita (Japan).
