When planning a long-haul trip, economy class passengers often seek out airlines that offer added comfort and amenities to make the journey more pleasant. Several international carriers have invested in their economy cabins to provide features such as extra legroom, advanced entertainment systems, and enhanced meal options.

Singapore Airlines’ Airbus A380 is designed with ergonomically crafted backrests and six-way adjustable headrests for increased comfort on routes between Singapore and destinations like London, Sydney, and Los Angeles. Passengers benefit from additional storage spaces, in-seat connectivity including power outlets and USB ports, WiFi access, and a digital menu available up to eight days before departure. The KrisWorld entertainment system allows travelers to save playlists through the SingaporeAir mobile app by signing into their KrisFlyer account.

Hawaiian Airlines operates its Airbus A330-200 primarily on flights from Honolulu but also uses it seasonally between Seattle and Anchorage following its merger with Alaska Airlines. The Main Cabin seats 192 passengers in a 2-4-2 configuration with a pitch of 31 inches. An Extra Comfort section offers more legroom at the front of the cabin. All passengers receive complimentary meals, drinks, seatback entertainment via personal LCD screens, free carry-on baggage allowance, and can enjoy Hawaiian cultural touches such as aircraft named after celestial bodies.

Qantas’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner has been recognized for providing comfortable long-haul service across Australia’s global network. The aircraft features streamlined check-in options through the Qantas App or airport kiosks and offers complimentary seat selection for Saver or Flex fares. On select flights, amenity kits are provided with travel essentials. Each seat is equipped with an LCD screen offering movies, TV shows, music, podcasts, interactive games, moving maps from boarding through landing; soft blankets and cotton pillows are supplied for overnight journeys.

Emirates operates the world’s largest fleet of Airbus A380s configured to accommodate between 322 and 557 economy class passengers depending on layout. These aircraft serve major cities worldwide including Christchurch, Sydney, London Heathrow/Gatwick, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), and Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB). Emirates provides over 6,500 channels of entertainment onboard; checked baggage allowances vary by fare type from 20 kg up to 35 kg; regional menus include fresh ingredients tailored to each route along with complimentary beverages.

Swiss International Air Lines will introduce its new Airbus A350-900s starting October as replacements for older four-engine models. The first aircraft will be named Lausanne with a special livery; initial deployments will be intra-European before launching long-haul service between Zurich and Boston in January. Economy seating includes increased legroom and wider seats plus large 13.3-inch OLED screens featuring Bluetooth connectivity for personal devices; all cabins feature curated scents inspired by Swiss landscapes.

Cathay Pacific’s Airbus A350-1000 stands out for its award-winning economy class experience—recognized by Skytrax in both 2024 and 2025—with adjustable headrests and enhanced cushioning supporting longer rest periods on flights from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG). Storage solutions keep personal items accessible while meal offerings reflect partnerships with Michelin-starred restaurants serving local favorites like egg tarts alongside specialty coffees or Betsy beer at altitude. Entertainment is delivered via high-resolution seatback screens loaded with content from providers such as Disney+, HBO Max, Paramount+, while universal charging ports ensure device readiness throughout the flight.
