Delta Air Lines is moving to retire its Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. The primary reason for this decision is the age of the airframes. Despite being smaller widebody jets, there is currently no direct modern replacement for these aircraft, which has led Delta to keep them in service longer than initially planned.

The retirement comes as part of a broader industry trend where airlines phase out older models that become less efficient and more costly to maintain over time. Without a newer-generation alternative that fits the same operational profile, Delta has had to balance between fleet modernization and available aircraft options.
