The International Air Transport Association (IATA) will hold its World Passenger & Financial Symposium (WPS/WFS) in Istanbul in 2025. The event, hosted by Turkish Airlines, aims to address the transformation of passenger travel with a focus on innovation in finance, digital identity, and retailing.

Turkish Airlines Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee Assoc. Prof. Murat Şeker said, “Turkish Airlines is glad to host the joint IATA WFS/WPS in Istanbul, our home city. As the airline that connects more countries than any other, we are committed to leading the transformation of passenger travel and stay at the forefront of the industry regarding innovation in finance, digital identity, and retailing which are central to offer smarter, simpler and more comfortable journey worldwide.”

Nick Careen, IATA Senior Vice President for Operations, Safety and Security stated: “Aligning change to customer expectations is critical. At WFS/WPS 2025 we will reveal key insights from the latest . From past surveys we know that passengers care about how they shop and pay for travel and that they are eager for technology to make their travel better. So, we’ll use the GPS to help the industry unlock the value of innovation in digital identity, payments, and retailing.”

The symposium’s program includes keynote speeches from Turkish Airlines Chairman Prof. Ahmet Bolat and Sandrine Le Borgne. The agenda features presentations on traveler priorities based on results from IATA’s 2025 Global Passenger Survey as well as sessions addressing payment challenges faced by airlines.

Attendees can expect specialized tracks focusing on topics such as how artificial intelligence and new systems are transforming airline retailing; modernization of payment processes; revenue accounting; use of digital identity and biometrics; and innovations aimed at improving customer experience.

Speakers at the event include Gary Liu (CEO of Antom at Ant International), Tamur Goudarzi Pour (EVP Strategy at Lufthansa Group), Christine Rovelli (Chief Revenue Officer at Finnair), Prof. Murat Seker (CFO at Turkish Airlines), and Kerem Kiziltunc (Chief Information Technology Officer at Turkish Airlines).
