Porter Airlines has announced the launch of three new routes connecting Canadian cities to major American Airlines hubs in the United States. The expansion follows the recent partnership between Porter and American Airlines, which enables travelers to earn and redeem AAdvantage miles on select Porter flights.

Starting in January 2026, Porter will operate three weekly flights between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Ottawa International Airport (YOW). In February 2026, service will begin with three weekly flights between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) and Ottawa, as well as daily flights between Phoenix and Vancouver International Airport (YVR). All routes will be operated using Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

The new partnership is significant for both airlines. According to the announcement, "The pact allows travelers to earn and redeem American Airlines AAdvantage miles on certain Porter flights and earn all-important Loyalty Points toward elite status." Porter also maintains partnerships with Alaska Airlines and JetBlue.

For American Airlines, this agreement strengthens its network in Canada. Its main competitors, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, have close partnerships with WestJet and Air Canada respectively.

Porter will not face direct competition on the MIA-YOW and PHX-YOW routes. However, it will compete with Air Canada, Flair Airlines, and WestJet on the PHX-YVR route.

In addition to these new services, Porter plans to increase frequencies on two existing U.S. routes: Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM) in Ontario and Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ).

"Porter's new U.S. routes will run as follows:

MIA-YOW: Three weekly flights on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays from Jan. 24, 2026

PHX-YOW: Three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Feb. 7, 2026

PHX-YVR: Daily flights from Feb. 2, 2026"

The partnership comes after an earlier plan by American Airlines to work with Connect Airways for service at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), which did not materialize.

This move marks another step in Porter's ongoing growth into the U.S. market through strategic alliances.
