Two Delta Airlines planes collided while taxiing at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday night, resulting in significant damage to both aircraft and one reported injury, according to CBS News. Video footage from the scene shows that one plane lost a wing in the impact, while the other sustained damage to its nose.
A CBS News producer on board Flight DL5047 stated that their plane, which had arrived from Charlotte and was heading to a gate, was struck by another Delta regional jet taxiing past. The planes were moving at low speed when the collision occurred, which helped prevent more serious injuries.
Images shared on social media show passengers deplaning onto the runway as emergency responders and police attended to the scene. One of the aircraft involved is marked with the number 15480.
