Bilt Rewards has announced the addition of Etihad Guest as a new transfer partner, expanding its list of airline partners. Members can now transfer Bilt Points to Etihad Guest at a 1:1 ratio, in increments of 1,000 points.

Etihad Guest is known for its partnerships with airlines from various alliances and offers a distance-based award chart for partner flights. The program has existing transfer relationships with American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One miles, and Citi ThankYou Rewards.

With this new partnership, Bilt members can use their points to book flights on several major airlines, including American Airlines, Air Canada, Air France, and KLM. For example, a one-way first-class flight on American Airlines from New York to Los Angeles can be booked for 67,000 miles plus $61. Another option is a one-way economy flight on Scandinavian Airlines from New York to Copenhagen for 45,000 miles plus $29.

Members are encouraged to compare options among Bilt’s other transfer partners such as Air Canada Aeroplan and Air France-KLM Flying Blue before transferring points to Etihad Guest. Transfers from Bilt to Etihad Guest are irreversible.

It is also important for members to review Etihad Guest’s cancellation policies before making transfers. Depending on when a booking is canceled, penalties range from a 25% mileage deduction if canceled more than 21 days before departure to up to a 75% penalty if canceled closer in. Cancellations within 24 hours of departure typically result in no refund.

"After all, transfers from Bilt to Etihad Guest are a one-way transaction, which means they're irreversible."

"And if you cancel within 24 hours of departure, you usually won't get any refund. That's pretty rough, and definitely worth considering before you transfer points to Etihad Guest."
