Air India has issued a travel advisory on X, cautioning that rain may impact flight operations to and from Delhi. The airline urged passengers to verify their flight status before departure and allocate additional time for travel due to potential traffic delays.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain and thunderstorms were recorded across Delhi and the National Capital Region on October 7, leading to waterlogging and slower traffic movement. These weather conditions often disrupt airport ground operations and affect flight schedules, particularly during peak travel hours. Air India's advisory is part of standard safety and operational precautions taken by airlines during periods of reduced visibility and congestion.

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) manages an average of 1,200 daily flights. Even brief weather disruptions can lead to widespread delays across domestic and international networks, according to the Airports Authority of India. Past IMD bulletins have noted that runway congestion and low-visibility procedures at IGI often result in extended taxi times and occasional cancellations during monsoon or post-monsoon conditions. Air India's proactive alert aims to reduce passenger inconvenience by emphasizing real-time status checks.

The Times of India reports that rainfall events in Delhi during October 2025 have already caused traffic slowdowns on major routes leading to the airport, including NH-48 and Dwarka Expressway. The report cites police advisories urging travelers to leave early and use updated traffic information to avoid missed flights. Air India's message aligns with these local advisories, demonstrating coordinated communication between airline operations and civic agencies.

Air India, established in 1932 and now part of the Tata Group, is India's flagship carrier operating a global network across Asia, Europe, North America, and Australia. The airline has invested in digital customer engagement tools such as live flight tracking and SMS alerts to enhance transparency during operational disruptions. According to Air India's official website, passenger safety and communication remain its top priorities in weather-affected travel scenarios.
