Adrian Neuhauser, CEO | Abra Group

The Abra Group has confirmed a significant order with Airbus, consisting of 50 A320neo aircraft and five A350-900 widebody jets. This move follows a previous Memorandum of Understanding for the A350-900s signed in July 2024, which has now been finalized.

With this latest purchase, the Abra Group’s total Airbus order book rises to 138 aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled through 2032, with the first A320neo expected to arrive later this year for Avianca. This initial aircraft will feature an Airspace cabin and exclusive premium seating in a four-abreast configuration developed in partnership with Recaro.

Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of the Abra Group, commented on the announcement: "We continue to make the necessary investments aligned with our commitment to provide millions of people with greater access to air travel, consolidating our position as one of the largest and most competitive airline groups in Latin America."

The group highlighted several features of its new fleet. The A350 is noted for its "cutting-edge technologies, aerodynamics, lightweight materials and state-of-the-art engines that together offer a 25% advantage in fuel consumption, operating costs and CO₂ emissions." The company also pointed out that this model provides "a 50% noise reduction compared to the previous generation of competing aircraft."

For Avianca’s future A320neos, the group emphasized an "avant-garde interior that prioritizes comfort and space," citing "the new design of the window frames and side walls" as factors contributing to a greater sense of spaciousness. Passengers will also benefit from dynamic lighting that adapts during different phases of flight.

In addition to these purchases, the Abra Group has arranged to dry-lease up to seven Airbus A330-900 widebody jets—five confirmed and two under a Letter of Intent. These aircraft may be operated by any airline within the group based on operational or financial needs at integration time. According to company statements, "these units can be operated by the Group's airlines according to market-driven operational and financial opportunities at the time of their integration."

The leased A330-900s are expected in 2026. The Abra Group stated that this model "reduces fuel consumption by 14% per seat compared with the A330ceo," while also "cutting airport noise pollution by up to 60%."

The Abra Group controls Avianca and Gol and holds an investment in Wamos Air. It also owns NG Servicios Aéreos, a start-up airline specializing in ACMI operations.
