IATA launches Integrated Sustainability Program with first certifications awarded

The four modules offered by ISP include:

- Environmental Management: Incorporates ISO14001:2015 principles through IEnvA to help organizations systematically assess their environmental impact.

- Sustainable Procurement: Introduces ISO20400:2017-aligned standards to aviation for evaluating supply chain sustainability.

- Social Responsibility: Integrates international guidelines such as ISO26000:2010 and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights into a certifiable framework.

- Sustainability Performance: Provides tools for measuring and reporting on environmental, social, and governance performance.

At the launch event, Air New Zealand and EVA Air were announced as the first carriers to receive Sustainable Procurement certification under ISP.

For Air New Zealand, sustainable procurement means building on the collective strength and innovation of our supplier network, and working together to create better outcomes for people and the planet. By backing IATA’s new ISP, we want to play our part to help lift standards across aviation, and demonstrate that doing what’s right is about doing good business.”

Jason Liu, Chief Sustainability Officer at EVA Air said: “Earning this certification marks a key milestone in EVA Air’s sustainability journey, reflecting our commitment to integrating sustainability into procurement and collaborating with partners to build a more resilient supply chain.”

Currently available only to airlines, IATA plans for future expansion of ISP certifications to other sectors such as ground handlers, cargo handlers, airports, maintenance organizations (MROs), and caterers.
